Mumphery getting unexpected attention

Vienna, Ga., athlete Keith Mumpherythought he would be a prospect that flew quietly under the radar in recruiting.

But that simply hasn't been the case for the 6-foot-1, 195-pounder. Mumphery already has seven offers including three from the Southeastern Coference.

"Recruiting has been going good so far," Mumphery said. "I actually thought I wasn't going to get any exposure. I've been really surprised by all the attention."

Mumphery has scholarship offers on the table from Mississippi State, Arkansas, Michigan State, Oklahoma State, Vanderbilt, Wake Forest and Middle Tennessee.

Out of that list, Mumphery admits to having some favorites but wants to keep that close to his vest right now.

"I've got some favorites but I kind of want to keep that to myself," Mumphery said. "I'm kind of open still. "It's hard to say when I will commit because everything is still premature to me," Mumphery said. "I'm just going to let my family help make my decision about what should I do and when should I do it."

One school that has appeared to make an impression on the Peach State standout is Mississippi State. The Bulldogs offered Mumphery the second week of May during spring football practice when wide receivers coach Mark Hudspeth made a visit. Mumphery stated that MSU is recruiting him as a wide receiver and is glad to have Hudspeth as his recruiting coach.
