Georgia WR excited to visit top school
Despite recently naming Arkansas, Michigan State and Nebraska his top three, Vienna (Ga.) Dooly Country three-star athlete Keith Mumphery (6-1, 195) continues to hold one school above the rest - Michigan State, where he will officially visit this weekend.
What has kept the Spartans atop Mumphery's list?
"Because of the type of offense they run, the pro-style. I just like the offense," Mumphery said, adding he's also looking forward to the atmosphere, learning about the academics and seeing the Skandalaris Football Center. "Plus they were the first team to give me chance, like they were the first to give me an offer. Your first offer, you always got to keep them (under consideration)."
While in East Lansing, Mumphery will part of the crowd in attendance to see the Spartans take on in-state rival Michigan. He's excited to see his favorite team play in such a high-profile game while he's in town.
"That will be hype," he said. "It's going to be a sold-out crowd."
Serving as Mumphery's primary recruiter is MSU quarterbacks coach Dave Warner, and the two have been in contact this week about the upcoming weekend.
"I just got off the phone with him. He was talking about how he likes me and stuff and giving me an itinerary," Mumphery said.
"(Warner) says I'm aggressive, I'm an aggressive receiver. Most receivers coming out of high school are 6-6, 190; they are small. Their body frame is tall, but they're skinny. I'm like 6-foot and a half and almost 200 pounds (with speed and power), and I got a good vertical leap (38-inches), so I jump like a 6-5 receiver."
