2015 tight end Marvontae Alexander of Booker T. Washington in Shreveport has reported offers from North Carolina and Georgia State. He also reports interest from Louisiana-Lafayette and Abilene Christian.
"ULL's a pretty good school," said Alexander, who grabbed 35 receptions for 575 yards and seven touchdowns last year for a squad that struggled to a 1-9 mark. "Their tight ends coach (associate head coach/recruiting coordinator Reed Stringer) is recruiting me. I camped with them in Shreveport. They send mail and say to keep working hard.
"That would be a good opportunity if they offered. I really like them. They played hyped."
Alexander, a two-star rated prospect, said his best game as a junior came against Class 2A state runner-up Many.
"I caught seven passes for 120 yards and two touchdowns," he said. "I had 70 yards receiving in the Rayville game, too."
The 3A Lions open the season today (Friday) versus local rival Fair Park at Independence Stadium. Fair Park prevailed in last year's matchup, 34-6.
"I just want to help my team as a senior and to win more games," Alexander added, "and be more of a team leader."
The 6-1, 203-pound H-Back was listed as the No. 28 top performer among several regions by Coach Dan Schuman following the National Underclassman Combine Louisiana/Mississippi Five-Star event held in Denham Springs earlier this year. Schuman wrote, "I saw a lot of hybrid TE/WR's this season and Alexander was one of the best."
