Barbes Austin chooses Tulane

Barbe High School running back/linebacker Nathan Austin has committed to Tulane, the Times-Picayune's Mike Strom reported Wednesday.
While Tulane was the only school to offer the 6-foot-1, 197-pound Austin, he did receiver interest from Mississippi State, Vanderbilt, Southern Miss, Air Force, Houston and McNeese State.

PelicanPreps.com interviewed Austin back in April at the Rivals.com Junior Day in Baton Rouge.
"Coming back I think we're going to be a little better," Austin said in April. "Last year, I don't know. I think it was just used to a new offense and getting used to the plays. Now we know every thing we're doing."
Austin also runs track, competing in the 100, 200, relays and the long jump. His best 100-meter time was around 11.0, he said, and he long jumped around 21 feet.
