Four individuals who claimed notable spots in the history of high school track and field in Louisiana headline the 2006 Louisiana Sports Writers Association All-State Track Teams.
Trey Harts of Barbe-Lake Charles and Larry Jones of Ruston were selected as the top performers on the boys squad. Kamelia Stroy of Northwood-Shreveport and Rachel Laurent of Vandebilt Catholic-Houma garnered the top honors on the girls squad.

Dave Anderson of West Monroe was voted the boys Coach of the Year, while Trevor Foolkes of LaGrange-Lake Charles claimed girls Coach of the Year.
This is the 54th LSWA All-State squad for boys; girls squads have been selected since 1978. Jerry Byrd of the Bossier Press-Tribune was again instrumental in the selection of the teams that are based largely on marks accomplished at the state and regional levels.
Barbe's Harts was voted the Outstanding Track Athlete after leading his team to a state runner-up finish in Class 5A. Harts had the state's top automatic time in the 100 meters, 10.49, and also had the top 200 time of 20.82 seconds.
Harts' 200 time posted at the Louisiana High School Athletic Association's Outdoor Championships is No. 2 all-time in Louisiana since the event has been run around a curve.
Jones' mark of 198 feet, ½-inch in the discus is No. 3 all-time in Louisiana and made him a clear choice for Outstanding Field Athlete honors.
Stroy of Northwood was voted the Outstanding Track Athlete on the girls squad. She had the state's top time of 54.38 seconds in the 400 meters and also ranked third in the 200 in 24.71. Stroy's time is also the fastest run by a senior since 1980 and ranks No. 7 nationally.
Vandebilt Catholic's Laurent was selected as the Outstanding Field Athlete after setting a composite state meet pole vault mark by going 13 feet, 3 inches. State track historian Byrd noted that it took Louisiana high school boys 47 years to evolve from 9-4 to 13 feet and with Laurent the girls have accomplished the same feet in just six years.
Anderson led West Monroe to the school's first state title in boys track. The Rebels had not scored a point in the previous three state track meets before claiming the Class 5A title earlier this month. Foolkes coached a LaGrange squad that also surprised many, upsetting favored Alexandria Senior High to win the 4A girls crown.
