Devonta Lee stars for Amite (LA) high school in Louisiana and is easily one of the brightest kids around. However, his play on the field has made him the talk of the town and coaches around the nation have taken notice.

Lee checked in with Pelicanpreps.com late Monday night to give the latest on his recruiting.

“Everything is going great”, said Lee in regards to his ongoing recruiting. “Things have been really crazy. A lot of coaches are coming to see me or ask about me, but believe it or not I check in on them too.”

The two-way all-star has made quite a name with his play, resulting in suitors from all over attempting to make their case for his services.

However, Lee just insists that he is in no hurry to make a decision. “I probably won’t cut my list down until late July. But it will be definitely before the season.”

It is noteworthy that Lee has plethora of offers to choose from, but a select few are in his top ten. Arkansas, Texas A&M, LSU, Tennessee, Ohio State, Florida State, Miami, Texas, Florida and Alabama are all in his high graces.

He stated that among those listed; Alabama has been recruiting him the hardest. The 4-star prospect was not shy about revealing that and was extremely happy that he was on their radar.

Devonta plays both safety and wide-receiver for Amite (LA) and excels at either spot. Coaches around the country, including Nick Saban, are after the coveted recruit. As a result, Lee has no preference on position at the next level.

When asked about Alabama, he had this to say:

“I’ll play wherever they want me to play”, said Lee. “I know Bama puts out NFL talent every year, but playing on that defense is amazing. They win championships almost every year. Why wouldn’t I want to play for a defensive coach like that?”

While it is no indication that the Crimson Tide is his top school, it is safe to say that he is very high on them.

Lee plans to cut his list to 5 in late July, but also stated that he hasn’t received his dream offer yet. That dream offer is from none other than none other than BCS runner-up Clemson.

He also shared that despite the trend of the early signing period, he will take all his visits and sign on National Signing Day in February.

Pelicanpreps.com will continue to bring you the latest with Devonta Lee and his recruiting as it happens.
