SLIDELL—Northshore High senior midfielder Mikayla Price has had one heck of a senior year.
She scored 17 goals on the season to help lead the Panthers to an undefeated season, scored a goal in the state championship match to help her team when the title, and now is an official collegiate signee after inking with the University of Louisiana at Lafayette on a women’s soccer scholarship.
“Ever since I was a little girl my goal has been to play collegiate soccer,” Price said. “When I signed that National Letter of Intent, seeing all that hard work in school and on the soccer, field paying off was just really an amazing feeling. It felt great. It caps off an amazing senior year for me. It’s been a great year. The entire team worked extremely hard and created a great bond. It was an incredible year.
“I knew that ULL was the school for me because when I visited the campus the very first time, I loved the atmosphere and just felt like it was the best fit for me academically and athletically. I loved the current players, coaches, my fellow incoming freshmen and just the style of soccer that they play in Lafayette. I’m expecting the biggest adjustment for me on the collegiate level will be the speed of the game and play. My experience on the travel ball circuit, especially playing in national competitions I believe will give me hopefully the ability to adjust quicker than other players. I’m so excited to be starting this new journey very soon.”
