New Orleans — Louisiana has always been known to produce a lot of talent at the college level on an annual basis and the 2023 cycle is no different. The Arch Manning’s and Shelton Sampson’s of the ‘Pelican state are already widely known across the country, so we’ve decided to give an early glimpse of other prospects in ‘the Boot’ who are primed to have breakout senior campaigns while simultaneously raising their profile.

Deshaun Batiste might be THE most underrated player in the entire state in the current cycle. He is currently unrated on the Rivals platform but the numbers he put up speak for themselves. 55 tackles (31 solo), 20 sacks, 2 forced fumbles & 2 fumble recoveries along with 1 defensive touchdown. As if that weren’t enough, he received high praise following his performance at the Rivals Camp Series stop in New Orleans. He currently has offers from Tulane, South Alabama, Southern Mississippi, Alabama State and Incarnate Word. Look for that list to increase exponentially if he continues on his current trajectory.

Tyree Adams is a huge young man. The 6’6, 275 mammoth from New Orleans’ St. Augustine HS has been very impressive and a lot of colleges have taken notice. The 2023 tackle has racked up offers from LSU, Texas A&M, Ole Miss, Florida State, Louisville, Tulane, Purdue, Memphis along with HBCUs Alabama State & Southern.

Jirrea Johnson is one of the most underrated Louisiana linebackers in the 2023 cycle. He has an endless motor and never stops pursuing at a high level until he hears the whistle. He currently holds offers from Nebraska, Louisville, Kansas, Texas-San Antonio, Buffalo, and Louisiana-Monroe.

Zae Teasett is one of a kind. The Baton Rouge signal-caller is quite the prospect and has a flair for making highlight reel plays. He has a knack for escaping pressure to find receivers for huge gains and TDs. In his 2021 season, he had 2,728 passing yards with 21 TDs and another 283 rushing yards & another 4 rushing scores. He currently holds offers from Arkansas, Ole Miss, Kansas, Louisiana Tech, Northwestern State and Grambling State.

Arnold Barnes is one of the most underrated offensive weapons in the 2023 class. The 2023 RB finished his junior campaign with 1,577 yards and 16 touchdowns. He currently has offers from Louisiana Tech, Tulsa, Louisiana-Monroe, UNC-Charlotte, Navy and Idaho. If his senior year is anything like his junior season or better, expect a lot of other schools to join the frey for his services.

D’Wayne Winfield is an all around beast. He got on many people’s radar after a 5 TD performance against rival St. James. He can play multiple positions but he projects as a QB or WR at the next level. He currently has offers from Virginia, Louisville and Central Florida.
