The West Jefferson High School Buccaneers finished 7-4 last season and are looking to build off that this season. Two of West Jeff's seniors, wide receiver Devin Scott and defensive back Parry Nickerson decided to commit before their senior seasons begins.
Scott committed to Louisiana-Lafayette and Nickerson committed to Tulane. Nickerson makes the sixteenth commitment for the Green Wave for the 2013 class while Scott becomes the Ragin Cajuns third commitment.
Nickerson's reason for his commitment to Tulane is the same song different verse for Tulane head coach Curtis Johnson and the Green Wave in recent weeks.
"They have a new head coach [Johnson] and they have a nice defense and I could possibly start my freshman year," Nickerson said.
"[When Tulane offered] I thought it was a good opportunity and I couldnt let it pass by," Nickerson said.
Nickerson also added that playing so close to his family and friends had much to do with his commitment to Tulane.
Scott thinks ULL and he are a good fit because of their style of play and he likes the staff and facilities in Lafayette.
"I like their coaching staff and facilities and offense because they run the spread like we do," Scott said. "So, I think I will fit in nice there."
The only camp Scott attended this summer was at ULL and it clearly paid off for the talented receiver.
"[ULL] offered me after the camp," Scott said. "[ULL] told me they like how quick I am without the ball and my route running."
The senior wide receiver finished his junior season with around 700 yards receiving and 8 touchdowns.
